Six week Online Yoga Nidra Course

Yoga Nidra

Yoga nidra is roughly translated as union or yogic sleep - it is a form of guided meditation that invites us to draw our attention inwards – during deep relaxation we find ourselves in the space between wakefulness and sleep – this is where the body finds its natural state of equilibrium /balance, and it is from this space we can restore, heal and move back to our innate sense of being. 

As the breath settles and the mind becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.

Yoga Nidra brings us into a state of harmony between our body, breath, mind, emotions, thoughts, belief’s and back into the very nature of our being.

How do we practice Yoga Nidra?

Yoga nidra can be practiced seated or more commonly, in the lying down position.

We make sure we are comfortable, warm, quiet and safe as we enter deep into the state of enquiry.

The practice takes approximately 35 minutes.

We start with setting our intention (our reason for taking this practice & also deeper intention for our life), our inner resource (our inner place of safety & wellbeing) & our Sankelpa (inner resolve) our heartfelt desire.

Once the foundations are in place we can then start to explore the body and breath – we gather information through concentration and sensory awareness. We welcome every aspect of the body and breath just as it is – this part leads the body and mind into a deeper state of relaxation.

With our body and mind rested in neutral we are able to welcome and respond to any thoughts emotions and beliefs that we are working with, or ones that may spontaneously arise. Once the mind and emotions have been truly seen, heard, welcomed and connected with they too become increasingly subtle and this gives rise for us to explore consciousness – our true nature as open, expansive, unlimited awareness in which everything arises and dissolves.
